    Default Gary’s awesome CCO -9mm

Gary was looking to put together a carry pistol for himself and wanted light weight and low recoil. So he decided on this fine recipe for one of our Fusion light weight Alloy CCO’s. Gary went with a Fusion Pro-Series CCO in 9mm with ramped barrel configuration, Flush Cut and target crowned to our new style beveled barrel bushing, Front and rear cocking serrations and Novak style trijicon tritium sights. Gary also wanted to add some nice style to the piece; having the top of the slide machined with our fancy fine top with reveal. The Ion bond DLC coated and Stocked with flat bottom hand select red cocobolo… a super nice pistol for a super person… We thank Gary for all his support and wish him all the best..

    Thumbs up First time out......

I would like to start off by saying thank you to Bob, Dave and the rest of the gunsmiths at Fusion. I ordered my build March 01, 2010 and it arrived today.
After a quick stop at my FFL this morning it was off to the range. I breakdown and inspection found everything to be as ordered.
I decoded to p[ut through 200 + rd's today to see how she would work. A quick lube and reassembly and it was inside to the range.

The first 100+ rd's were with Winchester 124 gr. at 25'. I used a sewries of mag's. All mag's were in the compact size and were broken down as follows.
    2 Kimber mags...... 2 Fusion mag's 2 Colt Mag's and 2 checkmate mags.
All were loaded with 8 rd's and the first 130 rd's were started as slow fire, center target. The next set of 50 rds were to the head of the target and the last 30rd's were experimenting with double taps and rapid fire. (see below).
Again this is only the break in period so I was not trying to win any prizes.
The Fusion ran all rounds with out a problem. NO FTF, NO FTE. Just eating all that I gave it.

The next 100 rd's were split between 50 rds of 124 gr and 50 rd's of 115 gr. Again all were Winchester white box and at 25'

The Fusion did not show any signs of overheating and the more I fed her the better she liked it.

The only problem that I had was when I went to use my Wilson Elite Compact mag's. I could fire only the first round and than the Mag would drop. After trying 5 different mag's, I check and saw that the base plate foot (which is metal not rubber) was not allowing the mag to seat properly. My gunsmith who also owns and runs the range said that he could tune the mags and adjust the foot so that would run in the Fusion and I will drop them off in the morning.

All in all I am one very happy camper and this is only the first of my range reports and it is back to the range Friday afternoon to run through another 200 + rounds.

That is one sweet piece girphoto. I am looking to build nearly the exact same gun myself. Thanks for the review.

    Thumbs up As promised

My second trip to the range in as many days was just as enjoyable.
Because it is an indoor range (South Florida, Friday afternoon with temps in the 100's) I had to set up little course of shooting that would allow me to finish my break in (Although NONE is needed) of my New Fusion and keep me from getting bored.

I went back to the silhouette target set it now at 30' and added two additional bullseye. One at the head region for top shooting and one at the bottom to practice the crouching position.
The center bullseye also allowed me to practice double taps (2 to the chest mass and 1 to the head).

By the way, Did I tell you that I really love this gun and that I already carrying it IWB (photos of new holsters to follow on another day).
I still had some of my 124 gr 9mm ammo left (about 200 rd's) so I loaded my mag's and started my work.
The final 20 rd;'s or so I shot with 9mm Critical Defense to see how the guns handles carry ammo (I carry either critical Defense or Guardian Gold).
With carry ammo it was like shooting a 22 (what a pleasure).

Getting back to the problem with the Wilson Elite mag's, iI contacted Wilson and they said just to file down the front end and if I needed them refinished, just to send them in and they would do so. That is this weekends project (I like to go to the range with at least 12 mag's ready to go).

Other than doing some photos of my new leather both IWB & OWB and my trips to the range, I have nothing else to report, except

DID I TELL YOU I REALLY, REALLY LOVE THIS GUN!

What a beauty. I have been thinking 9mm Fusion for about a year. Been yearning for the 4 1/4 length slide.

Well, the 4.25" is a pleasure to carry all day. I am currently using a 5-shot IWB and the fit and comfort at the 3:30 position has been great.
I am happy with my decision to go with the alloy frame and steel slide. The combination puts her in at about 28 oz (unloaded). The rounded butt is a must on the officers frame.
Now having close to 500 rds of Trouble Free shooting (right out of the box) has made it my daily carry piece.
I should have photos of my new leather for OWB & IWB posted later today.
If I had to do it all over again, would I choose Fusion, Hey, wait a minute, I did choose Fusion again and they are making a 2011 for me now. Again with the months of wait time. ( I should order a stock of Fusions and take them as I need them)
    Anyway until later
